WEBSITE – To put it simply, every business should have a web presence. For many that may mean just a page site or even a comprehensive listing in a good local directory. A growing number of consumers use the internet as their first port of call when looking for new products and services. So, the principle reason for having a web presence isn’t about selling your wares and services to the world – it’s about making it easy for customers and potential customers to find out about you and get in touch.
If I’m looking for a plumber I’m less likely to trawl through the phone book – I’d simply hit Google with ‘Plumbers Leicester’. Any plumber with a site or web presence will be first on my list to call.
The trick to getting a good website for your business is to be really clear what you want it to do. If it’s simply a place to show your contact details and a few paragraphs about you, then a 1-page site will be fine. This should cost less than £100. If you need something more complex to do more things with it, the same holds true. Decide what you want it to accomplish and then get it designed to that specification – don’t let yourself be swayed by all the bells and whistles that you can have in your site – go with what you need in your site to get the job done
